Diagnostic Testing

What is Diagnostic Testing?

Circulation testing, such as Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD) studies, is important in diagnosing problems related to blood flow. These tests measure the speed and intensity of the blood cells that travel through arteries and blood vessels.

Why is it necessary?

These tests are valuable because they help your doctor better understand your blood circulation. Dr. David C. Scherer, D.P.M., P.A. uses these results to document and diagnose your condition. This test is ideal for Diabetics and individuals with limited mobility.

How is the administered?

Circulation testing: You will be asked to lie back or sit upright. Certain areas of your skin may be cleaned to ensure the best results. Recording probes will be placed on your skin with gel. The painless probes direct a sound beam at moving blood cells. This movement alters the frequency of the reflected sound beam and the Doppler waveforms are recorded from your peripheral arteries and blood vessels.
